We hope to meet you on campus, or at our first Overflow on Wednesday, August 24 at 7:00 in Mendenhall Rm. 244.  We look forward to seeing you soon!!

Acts 1:11 - “…you will receive power from the Holy Spirit; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

POWER and WITNESSES…AND…AND…AND…

Power to…preach the gospel…to work miracles…be bold amidst persecution and to face opposition…to profess the name of Jesus…to spread the gospel all over the world!!  Witnesses of the person of Jesus…of his deity…of his incarnation…of his ministry…of his miracles…of his suffering and death…of his resurrection…of his ascension to heaven…AND of HOW HE HAS WORKED IN YOUR LIFE!!  In Jerusalem (where you are)…AND in all Judea (in the place(s) you are from)…AND in Sameria (in the place(s) you don’t want to go)…AND in the whole world!!

POWER in ours, it is a promise from Jesus in the Holy Spirit!!  WITNESSES, this is what we are told to do!!  THE WHOLE WORLD, this is where we are ALL CALLED to use this power and to be witnesses.  Not here OR there…here AND there!!

As you read Acts 1 & 2, consider these questions…

What are you doing for Jesus?  Are you being his WITNESS?  Who could you begin praying for, and being a witness to? (Not preaching, or even teaching deep theology, simply sharing how Jesus has worked in your life.)

Why Matthias and Justis?  If you had been there, would you have been considered?  Why?  Why not?

How does Peter say in Acts 2 that we receive the Holy Spirit?  Have you truly repented?  What about the church in Acts 2:42-47 is different from the church we say today?  Why is it so different?

We’re taking 11 students to serve the poor, the elderly, the marginalized, the homeless, and immigrants in Washington D.C.  Please pray for us that God would teach us and open our eyes to serving “the least of these” in our nation’s capital.  Pray that as we return that we would put our service and what we learn into practice here in Greenville.
